Welcome!
The 30th Street Community Garden is the first ever completely organic community garden in west Texas! In 2008, a handful of community members came together to carve out 20 garden beds, approximately 12' x'14' each, from the rough caliche soil of an open field located behind the basketball courts at 30th St. and Ave F.
Over the years, we have built up the soil through a number of DIY techniques with rich organic soil and organic matter and added two water tanks, a drip irrigation system and a clever, wooden fence made of repurposed shipping pallets. Each year, a small number of dedicated volunteers seed and maintain the community garden for learning and fellowship that's truly invaluable.
