Freedom Flea Market

Picture
The IHCC Freedom Flea Market is a community service project that fosters unconditional giving and community sharing.  It endeavors to encourage community members to see each other as a viable resource for help in times of need and supports the free exchange of material items in support of the community.

The Freedom Flea Market is now in its third year and has been a great help to those in need in the community - especially those who desperately need basic household items, but are unable to afford them.  It has also been a tremendous resource for those in unpredictable times of need or crisis situations such as recent divorcees, victims of house fires and the homeless within our community.  IHCC is very pleased with the success of this important and valuable community service project and we endeavor to keep it going strong for years to come!

How It Works

IHCC accepts donations of material items such as clothing, household decor, furniture and appliances from the community on a regular basis.  Then, once a month, Flea Market volunteers gather the evening before the event to sort and organize the material for display.  On the day of the event, the doors open at 10AM and EVERYTHING IS FREE til the event concludes at 1PM or 2PM.  Participants may also bring donations of  items to give or barter on the day of the event.

We ask that those who are in need of a particular item they cannot find at the event leave their name and telephone number so that we can keep an eye out for it. We also try to collect contact info for those who are interested in volunteering to help with future flea markets as well as any of our other community service programs and projects.

Suggested donation of $5 or more is welcome but not required.  All proceeds support the 30th Street Community Garden as well as current IHCC programs and projects.

Flea Market Volunteers

Flea Market volunteers are a vital part of this community service project.  Volunteers help sort, organize and set-up flea market items usually the evening before the event, while others agree to help the day of the event with keeping count of attendees, handing out informational material and bagging items for fellow community members.  We are always in need of volunteers who are willing to lend a helping hand for this valuable community service.  If you or someone you know is interested, click here to sign up as a volunteer or call 325-436-2602.
